Laptops are a mobile computer that has been designed to move around unlike a desktop pc, which is stationary most of the time.  A laptop is similar in many ways to a desktop pc in terms of they have many of the same components.  A laptop normally consists of a display screen, keyboard, and a touchpad and built in speakers.  A laptop works by an AC adapter being plugged into the main supply of electricity.  This also enables the re-charging of the laptop battery as well.  A laptop battery that is in new condition will normally run the laptop for up to three to five hours.  However, this depends of how much usage of the computer and power consumption is consumed.

Most people will tend to purchase a laptop for its portability and reliability.  However, there are other points that need to be considered when buying a laptop such as how much of a budget do you have in purchasing your laptop and what you will be using your laptop for.

Firstly is your budget, laptop prices can range from £200 to £2,500 but most standard laptops retail between £300 and £600.  If you are on tight budget, then it is best to search around for the best laptop deals.

Secondly is what are going to use the laptop for?  Most people tend to want to use their laptop for word processing/spreadsheets and PowerPoint.  They also want to use the laptop to surf the web online and be able to connect with friends, family and colleagues whilst on the move.
